Seismic behaviour of precast sandwich wall panels of steel fibre reinforced concrete layers and fibre reinforced polymer connectors

In recent past, the authors developed an innovative modular system for low rise building made by structural sandwich panels. This was conceived with focus on rationalization of construction process and thermal efficiency building. Thus, precast panels comprise two outer Steel Fibre Reinforced Self-Compacting Concrete (SFRSCC) layers, a insulation material Glass Polymer (GFRP) connectors. Studies previously have proved viability proposed solution when subjected to flexural loads (out-of-plane loads). However, in-plane biaxial cyclic behaviour these type has not yet been assessed. Therefore, investigate response loading conditions that can occur in seismic event, experimental program carried out. composed almost real-scale (2.0 m 2.0 m), without openings, which were constant vertical load representative transferred slab panel, while horizontal reversed imposed top panel. The evaluated terms strength, stiffness, ductility energy dissipation. results shown tested prototypes able withstand high values lateral loads, namely 212 kN 155 opening, respectively.
